What: High School Equivalency Program
When: During regular school hours
Where: M.C. Harris Annex rooms.
Who: For students who are overage and under credited and want to graduate school quickly with a GED certification.
Student can enter program if:
o Student is 17 years of age or older
o Student has a valid state or federal issued identification (ID)
o Student is currently in at least the 3rd year of high school
o BISD teachers will help prepare students for passing the GED
o BISD will pay for the examination after the student has accumulated the required time, completed their assignments and passed the official practice tests.
o Students are required to attend only 1.5 hours per day.
o The schedules can be accommodated to allow students to both work and attend school.
o Allows students to graduate and enter the workforce
o Allows students to attend a junior college or trade school; such as Texas State Technical College. Students who attend a 2 year college (junior college) may transfer to a 4 year college; such as Sam Houston State or Texas A&M Universities.
o Allows students to enter the Armed Forces; however, they should check with the recruiter first. The standards for the various Armed Forces may vary based on needs.
In January of 2013, the testing standards and test administration will be taken over by the PearsonVue corporation. The testing procedures and standards will change as PearsonVue reissues new GED tests
