In the spring semester of 2015, MCHS will extend its certification programs to include: beginning welding, basic machinist, CNC, and Certified Nurse Aid. In conjunction with Blinn Jr. College and the Hoode Center in Brenham, Texas, BISD will work to give MCHS students an opportunity to prepare themselves for the workforce. Each student selected would travel to the Hoode center as needed to complete their certification training.
This fall semester, 9 more MCHS students will earn their basic machinist program certification. Many of these students plan on continuing the CNC program to further their machinist skills next semester. MCHS is grateful for the opportunity to work with Blinn Jr. College and the Hoode center in Brenham.
Each machinist student will receive a “Certificate of Completion” from Blinn College Workforce Education. This certification will include two vital industry certifications. One is the OSHA 1910 (occupational safety and health administration - a federal government agency) general industry certification. This is a 10 hour course used in all of industry for safety training. The other certification is the NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) certification. This is a credential in Measurement, Materials, & Safety, Level I. This certification is recognized throughout the U.S. industrial workforce.
These students have put in the time and effort to reach their certification goal for this semester. We are proud of our students and wish them continued success.
