MC Harris students visit with business owners

MC Harris students participated in a College and Career Fair at the school with representatives from 16 different business, agencies and organizations.

Blinn College, Texas A&M University, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) and the RELLIS Academic Alliance were among the organizations that showcased  the academic programs available to the students after they graduate.

A U.S. Navy recruiter discussed military service, while a representative from the Bryan Police Department discussed the police academy.

Texas Workforce Solutions attended to give students information on their programs and resources that could help the students.

Thanks to CHI St. Joseph Health Center and local businesses, including Charles and Sues, Finnetta, Modern Barber, Kent Moore Cabinets, Britt Rice Electric and Sanderson Farms, for participating in the College and Career Fair!

One student said the fair helped her discover new possibilities for her future that she had not thought about, but is now interested in pursuing after she graduates. Many students were interested in the opportunities at Britt Rice Electric after learning about the training program.

Several students said they are interested in the Line Man Academy at TEEX, and one student said she wants to be the first female to complete the program.

Students at the Star Academy also had a chance to walk around and meet with some of the organizations, so they can start thinking about what direction they would like to go after they graduate high school.
